Our Approach to SEND
Achievio's approach is built on three foundations: understanding the whole learner, creating safety and consistency, and working collaboratively with all involved. We believe that when learners feel safe, they can learn.
Learner-Centred
Every learner at Achievio has an individual programme built around their strengths, needs, and goals. We do not apply a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
Trauma-Informed
We understand that many of our learners carry significant adverse experiences. Our approach is always warm, predictable, and emotionally safe — regulation before education.
Collaborative
We do not work in isolation. We maintain active communication with schools, local authorities, families, and other professionals involved in a learner's care.
How we work with learners
When a learner starts at Achievio, we take time to understand them properly. That means reading the documentation, yes — but it also means listening to the family, talking to the placing school, and spending the first sessions simply building trust.
We use a range of evidence-based approaches depending on what works for each learner, including Zones of Regulation, Thrive, PDA-informed practice, and sensory regulation strategies. Our programmes are reviewed regularly and updated as the learner progresses.
We are committed to the SEND Code of Practice and operate in line with KCSIE 2025. Where learners have EHCPs, we ensure our provision directly reflects and supports their EHCP outcomes.
